The last time Michigan was shut out was in 1984, before I was born! Last night was exiting for Irish fans, and even more so to witness the sweet victory in person. We’re lucky my uncle decided to pass along his coveted tickets to us. Thanks, Uncle Dean!
We departed for Indiana right after school on Friday afternoon. Although the game wasn’t until 7:30 Saturday night, staying close allowed us to arrive on campus early and enjoy the perfect weather. In addition to some tailgating, we were able to attend Mass before the game in the gorgeous Basilica. Making all the rounds to the tourist stops on campus, we even witnessed a marriage proposal at the grotto. I assume the fiancé lit a candle in prayer before he popped the big question. Don’t worry; she said yes!
You all know the outcome of the game by now, but before the game was a show, too. Three Navy Seals parachuted into the stadium, game ball in hand. Talk about making an entrance!
Although John was silent most of the game along with the other wolverines, he was a good sport wearing his ND jersey. “When in Rome…” The victory made the trip even more worth it, and I think any Irish fan can agree we’re happy Everett Golston is back. It’s looking like an exciting season ahead.
